Hi,
Thanks for stopping by my page. You look familiar! Cypress is a pretty small town and there are many ways we may have already connected.
If your kids are in their 20's and 30's, it's very possible that we've met volunteering in a classroom, planning a school carnival or sitting on a soccer field. Maybe we raised money for science camp, playground upgrades, field trips and school assemblies. My 15+ years as a PTA leaders are filled with cherished memories of raising my kids in Cypress and building friendships that will last a lifetime.
If your kids are in their early teens and 20s, maybe we met at the JumpStart Early Childhood Program. When my children Eric and Colleen were 12 and 10, I started working for the Cypress School District. The big goal was to make sure local families had the information and resources necessary to help their children enter kindergarten healthy and ready to learn. This was when I began learning about the hidden needs and challenges of so many families in our community and started working on their behalf. I'm proud of developing the free developmental assessments, referrals, parent and me programs, and summer school program for incoming kindergartners. During this time I learned how to write grant applications and build partnerships with businesses and non-profit organizations.
Or maybe we met at the Boys & Girls Club. I've been there for about 15 years and have worked with thousands of families, community members and businesses. I'm incredibly proud of the partnerships that resulted in serving 500% more kids than we were on day one. I know that many families have received great youth programs as well as counseling, food, clothing, and other services. We have outstanding new locations, beautiful facilities and an excellent reputation because of the positive results.
It hasn't always been easy. Few things that are worthwhile are easy. But persistence pays off - especially when you plan, adapt, reflect, listen, work hard, and focus on solutions with a team of smart, creative thinkers.
I want to acknowledge my home team - their support gives me a very real home team advantage!
Hugs and appreciation to my husband Val and our blended family of Alex and MJ, Kara and Jay, Eric and Elyse, and Colleen and Nick. We are also blessed to have a huge, diverse extended family of brothers, sisters, cousins and aunties. Oh - and our little dog Abby.
So, that's a bit about me. I hope you can see that I live my values, that I've helped make Cypress a great place to live, and that I want to do even more as we make important decisions during challenging times.
I'm asking for YOUR vote.
Together let's find solutions.
Gratefully,
Anne
